Foundations of AI in Healthcare

Picture two moments in the NHS this week a radiologist is reviewing a mammogram that an AI tool flagged as abnormal. The AI noticed something she almost missed. A diagnosis will be made weeks earlier than it would have been.

On the same day, a resident doctor is approving an AI-drafted discharge summary without reading it carefully. It contains a critical error. Unless someone downstream catches it, that error reaches the patient.

Both are already possible today.

This course won't tell you AI is going to save medicine. It won't tell you it's going to destroy it either. It will give you an evidence-based picture of what is happening and help you think about your role in shaping it.
