An independent library, built so the health workforce can meet AI on its own terms.
Working in healthcare in the age of AI, I wanted guidance on its use. Its strengths, its weaknesses, what it can and can't do.
I couldn't find a resource suited to my needs.
So I made one.
I'm Tom, a medical doctor and NHS Clinical Entrepreneur working in London. Together with a small advisory team, I've built the AI Literacy Library at Salus Collective: a free resource for everyone in healthcare who wants to understand the technology arriving in their workplace. It collates courses, frameworks, papers and tools.
Our first course, Foundations of AI in Healthcare, is self-paced and takes one to two hours. It covers what's actually happening in clinical AI right now, how the technology works, where the real benefits and the real risks sit, and how you can shape the way AI arrives in your own workplace. It isn't CPD accredited yet, that's something we're working towards.
It's written for the whole workforce: doctors, nurses, AHPs, pharmacists, admin staff and managers, and for patients who want to understand what's being used in their care.
Help us build it
The library is early. It was written by a handful of people, we're strongest where we happen to have worked and thinnest everywhere else.
If you work on the technical side of clinical AI building it, researching it, regulating it we need you to tell us where we're wrong. We're looking for people to write the technical material properly rather than have a clinician approximate it.
Right now we have nobody writing from mental health, nursing, pharmacy & low-resource settings. If you work in one of those areas and you've read something on here and thought that's not quite right for my setting, you're who we need.
Contributing can be an hour: read a module and tell us what's wrong with it. It can be more: write a pathway for your own profession, review evidence in your area, or join the advisory team. Contributors will of course be named on the work they produce, and the team.
And if you're a technical person who's been looking for a healthcare-side counterpart to build with, that conversation is open too.
What's next
The library & course already touch on foundations, ethics and governance, evidence and implementation. Next: in-person curricula and accredited courses, beyond that, role-specific pathways & care in low-resource settings. Everything will be reviewed quarterly, and anything out of date gets replaced.
Salus Collective takes no money from AI vendors and isn't affiliated with any of the tools it covers. The library is free and stays free.
